This week, I am thankful:
that after today, we’re down to two weeks!
Yup, I only have two more weeks of full-time nursing. And for both of those weeks, my shifts are split up a bit, so this is actually my last week of three shifts in a row.
(Three shifts in a row is very practical to do, but also quite exhausting.)
There are also only two more weeks left in this class…so for the next class, I will not be working full-time. Yay!
In case you missed it, here’s more about why I’m going part-time.
that my year of residency is officially over
Our cohort graduated this week, so we have officially shed the “new grad” label. Woohoo!

People say the first year of nursing is the most challenging, so I’m proud of us for making it through. 🙂
for my pal Brittany
She and I gave our cohort’s graduation address together (address is too big of a word…it was just a few minutes!), and we talked about how we met four years ago, in one of our nursing pre-req classes.
We’ve been through pre-reqs and all of nursing school together, we worked on our unit as techs together, we did our first year of residency together, and now we’ve graduated residency together.

We are an unlikely pair, since I came to nursing after raising four kids and she came straight from high school, but I’m so glad we met each other and stayed friends all this time.
that September is gonna be here in about 3.5 weeks
To those of you dreading cool weather and a return to school, I apologize.
But I am eagerly anticipating cooler temperatures, and as you know, I’ve had no summer break from school. Soo, I will welcome September. I’ll still be in school, but at least I’ll be a little less sweaty.
for the wood floors in my house
If you had me pick any type of flooring in the world, I probably would choose oak hardwoods, honestly. So how lucky am I that my rental has them??

I love how easy they are to clean, and I love their simple look too.
Also, I am so grateful my rental has zero square inches of carpet. I am not a carpet fan.
that I am feeling 100% better now
One day this week, I woke up, did a workout, showered, and realized….oh, I feel hungry! Like a normal level of hungry!

I haven’t felt my normal appetite in three weeks, honestly. So, I’m feeling appreciative of that sensation.
I don’t know exactly what bug I got, but it must have been a bad one because I’ve never taken this long to get back to normal before.
for a rain-free parking garage
It was raining pretty hard one day this week when I got to work, and I thought about how nice it is to park in a garage that leads straight into the hospital.

No getting wet for me!
that yesterday was less wild at work
I had a rough first day this week, but yesterday was much more manageable, and I was so grateful! I like when I don’t feel so rushed to get everything done.
Here’s hoping today (day three) is also smooth. 🙂
for a green view from the break room
This is what I see as I eat my lunch, and I am appreciative!

Believe it or not, there is actually a town out there; it’s just obscured by all the tree cover right now.
I live in a very tree-ful area. 😉
Your turn! What are you thankful for this week?
