This week, I am thankful:
for the green that is all around us
I do not appreciate summer air, as you well know, but I am trying to remember to look at and appreciate all the green that is here right now.

that I worked on the most miserably hot day this week
We’ve had some decidedly July-like weather this week, and luckily, I worked a 12-hour shift on the hottest day.

Since I work in a climate-controlled environment, I don’t mind being at work when it’s miserable outside. It’s not like I’m missing anything out there!
I’d rather be off on a beautiful, low-humidity day.
that I got to be a runner at work
Our systems were down, which meant everything needed to be done manually, including prescription verification, med pickups, lab drop-offs, and result pick-ups.

So, instead of taking care of a patient group (and having to do paper documentation), I just got to be a go-fer.
And I considered that a blessing!
However, my feet were very tired by the end of the day. It was so much walking!

for the joy of seeing a patient progress
Sometimes a patient I take care of could be on our unit for a while, and when that’s the case, I try to pop in on a future shift and say hi, even if I’m not assigned to the patient.
Not everyone improves drastically, of course, but sometimes the difference is night and day, and it’s fun to see a smile emerge once someone is feeling better.
that I have a symphony ticket
I honestly have not had the schedule space to try to go for a while now. But I looked at my upcoming work schedule and realized there’s a date I could make in October. Yay!
I might also be able to make it to one in September because I do have one Friday off this month.
that some nice weather is coming
I spy a lot of days in the 7-day forecast that say things like “Sunny with low humidity” or “Sunny and pleasant”. And this is making me feel hopeful!
Maybe I will get to open some windows. 🙂

(Which Chiquita would appreciate for sure.)
What are you thankful for this week?
